Post Thyroidectomy

I 15 days post-opp.  Then first 5 days were very uncomfortable, I wondered if I would ever be the same.  Then it seemed suddenly I felt so much better, like I was over the hump per say, I have felt great for about 7 days.  And now for the past 3 days I feel as though I have been hit by a big truck, my whole body aches and I have muscle stiffness.

What is happening?

I had a total thyroidectomy in June. I wasn't put on Synthroid until after I had radiation therapy 4 weeks later. I felt good after a few days but then not having the hormones from the thyroid hit me. Every day was worse than the last. Until you are put on meds. or until they get you on the right levels you will feel awful. After 4 weeks my blood pressure was dropping so they did the radiation so that I could be put on meds. as soon as possible. I felt awful until then!! Wanted to SLEEP! Good luck and keep your head up. It will get better.

I know for me personally, whenever I have surgery, once I start to feel even a little bit better, I way over do it and then end up crashing a couple of days later.  It may be possible that your body is telling you to ease up a bit.

Take care!
