Questions...

Hi! I'm new to this...and would like to see if anyone can shed a little light on what I should expect for my next visit with an Endocronologist.

I'm 29 and have 2 kids. 2 1/2 years ago I gave birth to my youngest son and within 3 weeks I lost 75 pounds. My body hurt due to the weight loss but I was so excited to loose the weight so quickly that I never thought something was wrong.

It wasn't until recently I started noticing rapid weight gain. I have gained 45 pounds in the last 4 months!! I eat healthy and go to the gym 2xs a week. I'm always thirsty, I find it very difficult to sleep at times, but then there is times where all I want to do is sleep. I am always cold. I have time where I have a crazy amount of energy then times where I can't get out of the bed. I'm moody and irritate easily. I am loosing hair like crazy and 90% of all the curl is gone. My skin is dry to the point where I am putting lotion on 4-5 times a day. I have a raspy voice at least 2 times a month. For the past 6 months I have experienced irregular menstrual cycles lasting alomst 10 days off & on. There are times where I am constipated majority of the month, then I will experience diarrhea. I have no sex drive anymore. Sometimes I feel like I'm loosong my mind! I have trouble remembering the most routine things.
After telling the Endo all these things I felt like a hypochondriac!! I have had NO health issue until now.

My primary care doctor diagnosed me with Hyperthyroid, after I requested a blood test. I was sent for an ultra-sound and 2 nodules where found on my thryoid. I was then referred to take an RAIU test which I was told confirmed Hyperthyroid.

I  feel I don't fit the symptoms of "Hyper" more of "Hypo". I decided not to waste anymore of my time with my primary care doctor and found a highly recommended Endocronologist. He has said that my thyroid is enlarged & he had me take another round of blood tests.

First round results:

TSH: 0.03
Glucose: 149
Triglycerides: 157
T4: 1.06

Second round results:

TSH: 9.98
Glucose: 60
Triglycerides: 168
Thyroglobulin: 3.0
Anti-Thyroglob: 2251.0
Anti-Thyroid Peroxid: 125.0
T3: 2.8
T4: 0.76

I just want to feel normal again! Any input would help - I have googled everything and just can't piece it all together.

Your test results indicate that you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune thyroid condition, in which the body sees the thyroid as foreign and produces antibodies to destroy it.  Hashimoto's is the # 1 cause of hypothyroidism in the developed world, one major characteristic is swinging from hyper to hypo, which is what you appear to be doing.

It also looks as though you have some insulin resistance going on, with your high/low glucose.

Please post the reference ranges for the T3 and T4, as these vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report.  Also please indicate whether these are Free or Total levels; if your lab report doesn't specify "free" or "FT", then the results will be for Total, which is considered to be obsolete and of little value, though your do appear to be for the "free" values.
