I agree that your elevated TPOab would indicate Hashimoto's. No, it can't be cured, but the resulting hypothyroidism can be controlled with thyroid replacement hormones. Your doctor should have started you on a thyroid replacement, already.
Please post the levels including the reference ranges which are usually in parenthesis to the right of the lab result. As reference ranges vary lab to lab.
But in general. The TPO antibodies being elevated means that you have an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto's. This is the #1 cause for low thyroid (Hypo thyroid or simply Hypo) in the modern world.
If the ranges are typical of what we see, the results above would appear to be low enough in the range that many if not most people would fell many symptoms of Hypo.
How are you feeling? What are your symptoms?
Treatment for Hashimoto's is the same as anyone who is Hypo. And that is by taking oral prescription thyroid medication.
Hashi's is where your immune system believes that your thyroid gland is a foreign invader, and the immune system goes about systematically attacking it. As a result, the ability for the thyroid gland to produce hormone is continued to be reduced. Therefore knowing you have Hashi's is good so that you know to be tested more regularly even after you start feeling well and a proper medication dose, as the dosage will have to be increased over time to keep up with the failing thyroid gland.
Do not be "freaked out" by the term Hashi's. Many Dr.s don't even test for it as they automatically assume that if you are Hypo or low thyroid that it is caused from Hashi's because it is so common.
