Racing thoughts

I have been synthyroid or levoxyl for at least 18 years and my current Dr keeps me high normal, but my mind races and I can't sleep well (has been going on for months now) .  I have been reducing from 137 to approx 119 over a period of weeks by chipping off part of the tablet and my thoughts have calmed a bit, but I seem to get tired more easily.  Does anybody else have this racing "thoughts" problem?  Another doctor told me it was unlikely that levoxyl would be causing my mind to race, but after reducing I found some relief.  Currently I am waitiing for my latest lab results.

Liz94 - I am sorry to hear why you have to stay on high dose.  Another 6 mos to go...  I don't know if you work, but if you do, I know how hard it is to concentrate.  I was blaming it on menopause for a long time, but now I know.  I realize you have to stay on dose for another 6 mos. so even tho it sounds easier said than done just keep on doing what your dr says.  You don't want to mess around.  I hope all turns out well for you.

HyperT77-  BP meds are ridiculous.  I had a problem with every single one of them.  I can't even remember half the ones I was on.  Between that and thyroid I am surprised I am still going.  I insisted on changing BP meds in the hopes of finding one that didn't botter me. Finally tried going without them (without dr approval!)  It was scary, but after about 2 weeks everything settled down, even more so with exercise, which interestingly once I told my dr I had stopped the BP meds, he told me not to exercise, but only walk.

Well, unfortunately I'm on such a high dose for cancer suppression. I'm 6 months out now and have scanned clear but he would like me on this dosage till February.  He said if I start showing hyper symptoms before then he'll lower my meds but right now he feels like it's best to keep my TSH very low until we clear that 1 year mark as long as I'm not hyper. And according to him.....I'm not hyper!  But according to everyone around me I've developed some kind of ADD with major brain fog!

Glad to know that everyone else has "symptoms":)  The Endo is slowly weaning me off of the blood pressure medicine as well as the Hyper T medicine.  Since reducing the blood pressure medicine, I can actually concentrate again.  Had a horrible time while on that medication.  It worked great to lower my heart rate.  But that is down now and so he's taking me off of the med.

I was acting the same way before 1) I stopped taking by Blood Pressure meds and 2)reduced levoxyl.  Thankfully, my blood pressure is now controlled without meds.  I know what you are talking about, though.  I couldn't go to sleep without the tv on to drown out my thoughts.  Like you if I woke up during the night, I be singing a song or going over and over the previous days events and never be able to get back to sleep.  My dr thought he'd like to try Amour and we are just waiting for test results.  I am curious to see what they are.  He knows that I have slightly reduced levoxyl. I printed out some info on Amour and will use it to ask him pertinent questions. What is totally normal anyway?  What is good for one person isn't necessarily good for another.  You are uncomfortable and who knows what long term effects this can have for you?!

I'm on a pretty high dose of Synthroid and I've noticed something similar.  I don't have problems falling asleep but if I wake up in the middle of the night my mind will be going a mile a minute. Like I'll have a song in my head repeating itself over and over or I'm just agitated with my thoughts and sleep is impossible.  I've also noticed that during the day I'm constantly shaking my foot if I'm sitting or wandering around the house looking for stuff to do. I'll sit down to watch a movie and 5 minutes later I'm up vacuuming and then I realize I was watching the movie and just totally forgot about it.  My TSH is very low, .06 at the last reading. But my doc won't switch my dosage for 6 more months unless he feels like I'm going hyper. According to him I'm not.  He says I'm "totally normal."
