Finally, my test results

TSH = 0.5
Free T4 = 1.6

Unfortunately, thats all the doctor ran. So my question is, what does all this mean? I know I have been told I have a hyperactive thyroid however I can never get a doctor to get anything done for me. I have a lot of symptoms, mental and physical that come and go (not to mention losing 25 pounds or muscle mass and not gaining it back).

So for those more experienced here, is the doctor going to tell me my results are "normal" and "its no big deal" again? Or should I go in there and tell him I need help now? This is about my 3rd or 4th time going through this in the past 4 years and I cannot afford another 2 month medical leave from work due to my Thyroid symptoms.

Any help and info is GREATLY appreciated.

When your levels are stable and balanced out, then the weight gain should stop.
Mine did.
But I gained 16 kgs weight PRIOR to RAI as the anti-thyroid meds blocked my thyroid and I havent gained hardly anything since RAI.

Great news...well not really but at least someone is listening to you.
You will gain the weight after a TT so watch that as you will go HYPO and need replacement meds for the thyroid you dont have.
Good Luck and dont hesitate to post as to how you are going.

Saw the Endo today and some good news, he saw that the goiter is still growing and he told me he recommends that I get it removed. So looks like im going to have surgery sometime soon to get his taken care of, thank god.

Funny thing is, the previous endo I went to and the PcP saw my weight and all they said was "try to eat more". The most un-professional diagnostic ever.

Yeah with a BMI of 17, you can guess how that pisses my wife off lol. I have always been thin, but im the type of guy that is thin, yet muscular, not even remotely skinny.

But now im just skinny, to the point where people make comments about it at work, and with the mood swings, I have to bite my tongue because somedays I feel like going off.

I've tried weight gainer and other suppliments, none make a difference. I used to play football but if I even tried to play in my condition I would get crushed.

Wow, BMI of 17 that is really low for a male! there is a serious problem here.... That BMI reading is really worrying and should be taken serious by a medical professional... Anything between 20 and 25 is healthy and anything  between 25 and 30 indicates being over weight, 30+ is obesiety....Your underweight which is just as bad as being obese.... And will continue if not taken care of NOW!!!

The heart rate would be the biggest concern right now. Try not to do anything that would increase it, like excersise. Stay away from any kind of stimulants, like caffeine. If you get rapid heart rate, you really need to contact your doctor, they could prescribe beta blokcers until you are being seen. Mine was going 140 sitting down.

Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Yeah I definitely have the fast heart rate, heart palpitations and alot of other issues. hopefully this new Endo wont be a knucklehead like my previous one.

I'd give anything to gain my weight back, lol

Good that you are seeing an Endo. See what they say or recommend and go from there. I had a goiter and the weight issue, they did RAI and then just ended up removing the entire thyroid.

Make sure you tell them every symtpom, ESPICALLY if you are continuing to lose weight and have a rapid heart rate....

Hyper is not anything to joke around with, you may end up in a thyroid storm and that is not any fun....

I hope you get a compassionate doctor who will LISTEN to you, not just hear you....

Sending good blessings your way..

Talked to my doctor over the phone today and he said that I am probably "subclinical hyperthyroid" what does that mean?

Eventhough he is sending me to an endocrynologist tomorrow, will it be far fetched if I request them remove the goiter in my neck? I already know it isnt cancerous, but at times it does bother my breathing and swallowing of food.

Also the fact that I am a 25 year old male with a BMI (Body Mass Index) or 17.0 really makes me want to tell the Doc that obviously something aint right especially since i cant gain any weight.

Thank you for the reply. I have a growth on my thyroid and the doc wants to do an ultrasound (although I have had this done like 3 times already) its not cancerous, but right now I just want to get that thing removed, its a fricken nuisance to me and sometimes bothers me when breathing or eating.

Hopefully it wont be another 6 months to a year of fighting with a doc again.

Going by your TSH level, you are hyper and need anti-thyroid medication to block the hormones.
Dont be fobbed off by the Doctor.......if he disagrees, then see another one.
