Should I be worried?

I had my thyroid removed 4 years ago (papillary thyroid cancer) and now my thyroglobulin test came back at a 5 when it should be under a 2, however all of the scans that I have taken have come back negative.  Last year I was at 3.9 and scans also turned up negative.  My Dr is telling me that this slight elevation is miniscule and that I should not worry that he will do more tests in 6 months.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Did you have RAI when you initially had your thyroid removed?

My understanding is that there should not be an increase in thyroglobulin.  The goal is undetectable. Perhaps you have antibodies? I think that can make a difference. Are your doctors doing whole body scans or ultra sound? My endo seems to feel that there is a movement away from follow up scans, and more reliance on Tg test with ultra sound.  Good luck.
