Should I have thyroid operation

I am very confused I was told I had follicular neoplasm on my biopsy, I have a 3in by 3in mostly solid, mass they call it complex it has a small fluid center. It has blood flow. One doctor said more than likely it is cancer, another doctor said statistically it should not be cancer, So why would I let anyone operate on me if the chance is higher that it is nothing.??????

Did he give you a percentage?  I had four nodules, biggest one 2.1 cm, three on right side, one on left.  They were all solid and vascular.  My thyroid tests came back fine...although my thyroperoxidase antibody test was positive.  My chances it was cancer was 5-15%...that is one in twenty or one in seven, which was enough for me to worry about it.  I had the right half of my thyroid removed last week due to hoarseness and swallowing difficulties, and to get the biopsy done on the nodules they removed to test for cancer so that I could put my mind at ease.  Your mass is very large, I would have it removed.  where is it?  One lobe or the other?  If it is isolated in one lobe, you can have it removed and probably still have thyroid function.  My left is still there (with a nodule) and I have felt fine after the surgery.  If you have good insurance, I would have it taken out.  The surgery for me was a piece of cake, the only bummer was nausea after surgery from the anesthesia.  After three days I was back to my routing, a little tired, but doing great, no pain.  don't be scared of the surgery, I would be more scared that is was cancer.  Do some research on the internet, you will find all kinds of good information.

Also all my thyroid test came back okay it is working fine. I did read that when they are not cancer they sometimes shrivel up on there own.. I am at high risk to be put under so it scares me , and it scares me they will do this and say oops sry it was all good. Does anyone no the odds of this being cancer vs not? I am 38 adopted not a lot of history.

That mass is big.  Get a thyroid operation.  They will biopsy when the mass is out.  Better safe than sorry.  I just had a partial thyroidectomy and I am very pleased that I went.  I just had it done yesterday.  I too hesitated at first.  Whether it is cancer or not, it is still a large mass that needs to get the heck out of there!

Hope this helps.
