MY INPUT!! I had 90% of mine out only a week later to find out I have Cancer. I AM NOT SURE THE issues with you but MAKE DAMN sure you DO NOT have cancer. GOOD luck I am off for a second surgery..... LUCKY me!!! I have the 10% it HAS TO COME OUT!!!
Rodeo Queen
PS my FNA was good
My Blood work was all good
I still had cancer.
My thyroglubulin was 41.6!! It was a lil elevated... BUt the DR WAS SURE it was not cancer I KNEW other wise.
I would go for 100% or nothing. Are they hoping that the 10% will function again? Mine was 50% out and the other side never worked again. If I was going to have out the 90% I'd go 100% and go on the meds as there is no guarantee that 10% will work again and what if they find secondary incidental finding of Pap Ca .. then what .. and how do you treat, etc. Please talk to them and find out the exact reasoning for 10% left in .. I'm not a Dr. but I've seen alot here on the community and have personal experience as it relates to me.
Cheryl (papillary microcarinomas 1/07 .. partial .... orig nodules benign)
Thanks for the advice guys, :)
unfortunately over here in the UK we don't get a lot of say in our health care it kind of what the dr says goes (we don't have to pay for healthcare, so we have no rights - even though it's my body!)
i was told the idea of leaving a bit in was to protect the vocal cords from becoming damaged, i've kind of just fooled myself into thinking it's def gunna come back benign (which i know could be wrong) here's hoping and praying!
my FNA was suspicious follicular cells and no convincingly benign features,
urghh, your right i should have it all out but don't think i've got much choice
Love Helen
