hi not sure of the answer to this as i have had quite a lot of hair loss which is related to thyroid but it has carried on growing at the normal rate do you have other symptoms?
I think thyroid issues can affect hair and nail growth. Now that I am kept slightly hyper due to TT and pap cancer, my hair and nails grow faster than ever. I also remember having a bit of hair thinning several weeks after my thyroidectomy while we were getting my T4 levels regulated.
If you search it on the web, there are about a gazillion symptoms related to thyroid issues tho, so hair loss or slow growth alone wouldn't necessarily mean a thyroid issue.

Have you any other low thyroid symptoms?

hi there
hope you dont mind me asking u
i am having RAI treatment in about 2 months
i had thyroid out and a malignant tumour
doc said after RAI he will be keeping me slightly overactive,or hyper
how does this work out for you?
im just wondering whats ahead
Ive always had loads of energy does this mean im going to be like a duracell battery
someone said i will be thin!!!
wow i thought some good news after cancer!!!!
the only thing i really like about myself is my hair its long and red, hope it doesnt fall out
suppose in the grand scheme of things its not important
thanks
xx
Don't worry! You could see a bit of hair loss, but nothing that anyone else would ever notice. I just noticed more in the shower drain is all. Scary to see...but it doesn't ALL come out or even look thin.
I am kept slightly hyperthyroid, but I honestly don't feel any different than I did before my TT. I had normal hormone levels, the papillary tumor was the only irregularity. I notice I do have a bigger appetite and sometimes tend to want to eat more than I should. I especially realize the magnitude of the appetite now that I am WAY hypo after RAI...TSH was 47 just last week. I have NO appetite at all.I wish I could say I was thinner cuz of being hyper thyroid. Actually I am neither fatter or thinner than before. I would say that losing weight is a bit easier when I do cut back.
Back to your question. My life is absolutely normal and unaffected by the TT and cancer. It was a big inconvenience and the yearly scans are a drag. I shouldn't ever have to have the RAI again, so that's good. The chance of the pap cancer coming back is slim to none in my case. The RAI this second time around sucked. I was very nauseated, fatigued, very ill feeling. I was off work several days. Going back tomorrow. Finally feeling good and I think the synthoid and cytomel are kicking back in now. Still feel hypo, just not sick.
Sorry for rambling so much!
Hope this helps.
