Suggestions for healthy thyroid "diet"?

So, now's my chance...I'm off the Synthroid -cold turkey...(I'm making a voodoo doll of my endo :0 ! -These swings back and forth are going to make me nuts!...Ah well,I'm pretty sure I was being over-medicated anyway)...So...If I can stimulate my thyroid to kick into gear before my Endo gets any ideas of putting me back on the Synthroid (I'm post-thyroiditis), maybe I won't need it? I'm taking kelp supplements and eat seafood regularly...(I'm so lucky I live a short distance from the ocean!)...Any other suggestions? I have a 6 week window to stimulate it naturally...What's worked for you?  Thanks!                                                                                              ~MM

Hiya! Hmmm...that was my own thinking at work...I figured since kelp had so many minerals in it, including iodine, it would help a pokey thyroid work more efficiently...Not so? It's only day 3, and I'm already starting the hot flashes and subtle aches after the endo had me stop the Synthroid cold-turkey...(He wants to see how it's functioning now that I've been off chemo for a month (it initially caused thyroiditis that was hyper, an now is/ was hypo) and need a iodine uptake test done again to determine that...) So, my impression is, that my hypothyroid issues are temporary and will resolve in time...I was hoping there was some way I could "help it along..." thanks for the feedback... ~MM

Where did you get this idea that kelp is going to fix your thyroid? It won't - it can't

Read this short clip.

On the opposite side of the coin of insufficient iodine is taking too much from iodine-containing herbs such as kelp, bladderwrack, or bugleweed can increase your risk for hypothyroidism. Many multivitamins, glandular support formulas and combination products contain these supplements.

You could damage the thyroid more. You may burn it out entirely.
