Surgery Complications

I had thyroid cancer surgery a few months back and my surgeon was Dr Sara Javid @ Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She cut a nerve during my surgery and because of it I know have a paralyzed vocal cord. I'm forced to deal with voice, breathing, swallowing & choking issues now because of it along with all the additional medical costs. And I feel sick all the time.

How much of your thyroid was removed?

Is your doctor ordering regular blood work?

The only thing they did say is there is a chance it won't get any better. It's a waiting game. Nerves heal "very" slowly. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy that's for sure. I have been 100% healthy up until this mess. I'm only 42.

Do they think it will heal?

I'm on no thyroid meds. What I'm going through is all because of the cut nerve during my surgery.

I'm sorry to hear about the complications of your surgery.

Are you now on thyroid meds?  If so, what do you take?  Do you have the results of recent free T3, free T4 and TSH blood work?

I don't think there's much we can say about the nerve damage, but you shouldn't be feeling sick all the time.  Give us some more information, and perhaps we can make some suggestions.
