Those recently diagnosed with thyCA-a nice little suggestion

I got a great little suggestion from an herbalist/massage therapist/reiki master who i met for a day on vacation.    i'm still struggling with the fact that i heard that word 'cancer.' even though my TT was successful, i'm delaying RAI for who knows how long.  can't handle it physically or mentally right now, but i am very anxious about it.

Anyhow,   she suggested writing all the feelings i have about thyCA on a piece of paper - how sad, mad, confused, whatever it made/makes me and then literally,  going to a favorite spot,  digging a hole and burying it.

it's a physical way to say 'hey, i'm putting this behind me, i'm burying it, i'm not going to let it control my life.'

Thankyou cheryl.I did have a horrible time with hypohell and you and the others were the only ones that got me through it.
Lee I didnt mean to belttle the seriousnes of the RAI its a nuclear pill for Goodness sake and you have to isolated from your family so you wont make them glow too.But ifgyou knew how I dreaded maybe having to do chemo and being sick and loosing my hair, you  can understand my relief at just having to take the RAI.Everyone is different.I really didnt have anyside effects from the RAI outside loosing my taste sense.I didnt even get the swollen saliva glands. But like I said everyone is different and will have different reactions to the RAI.What you experienced, others may not. I hope this helps you understand where I am coming from.

Not sure if you read Venora's other posting about her RAI in detail .. I don't think she means it is just taking a simple, little pill .....I know it can be read like that (this darn posting of the written word can be so misunderstood online), but knowing her for over a year it would be my feeling that she means there is a cure for it and the cure doesn't involve ongoing chemo treatment, radiation that leaves burns, etc., etc.  I think she means there is an effective way that isn't too invasive and works ..... she had a terrible time with side effects preparing for RAI and afterwards and as I recall, also a very rough time recuperating from her thyroid surgery which was quite involved, & invasive, too.  It is more her way of making the situation easier to deal with in the way she wrote it and I don't think she meant it literally as it is written ??????

LEEEEE, I had vertigo with a migraine headache for 48hrs after surgery .. it was so bad I had to stay an extra night .... that vertigo is just a nightmare and I was unable to use the toilet for 36hrs bcz of the dizziness/nausea just sitting up and couldn't put on my eyeglasses for 24hrs which was the worst but I was so sick with it I spoke to the Docs w/o the eyeglasses and it really didn't bother me (I'm blind without them) so that just shows how sick I was from the vertigo alone....ugh....the dizziness lasted about a week .. they told me it was from being put out at the time.  I did not have RAI so do not know what would happen to me with that ............ I can only imagine!

AGAIN--I THINK IT IS MISLEADING TO TELL PEOPLE THAT RAI IS JUST TAKING A SIMPLE LITTLE PILL.  IT IS MORE THAN THAT.

that is a very wiccan way to deal with unpleasant things like cancer.I  have done that several times to get rid of unwanted things and thoughts and it works quite nicely. you anc also burn the paper and thsatis quite effective too.Just thought I would throw that in there.
Oh and I was very terrified of the RAI untill I came here to the forum.Well its not so bad.Take a pill, glow for 4 days and poof!! cancer is gone.

I *think* that is a great idea BUT BUT BUT honestly, I don't think until you work thru each and every aspect of the word "cancer" will you be able to write it down and bury it the same day.  I would like to suggest to her suggestion that you write it all off and as you have accepted ea. item on the page then cross it off and then when/if you are able to come to final acceptance bury it big time.

I saw a counselor for about a month and it wasn't until she assured me there is no timeframe and no guarantee of TOTAL acceptance did I realize that I AM IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT and I am so so lucky to have time on my side that I CONTROL THIS FREAKIN' CANCER and it willl NEVER CONTROL ME and when she suggested sometimes people never totally accept it I felt better about the whole thing as if the weight of the world was lifted like something was **wrong*** with me!!!!

Cancer diagnosis no matter how big or small has many facets to it .. mourning, etc. similar to death .... everybody deals so differently with it.  I was blown away when I saw just how upset I got inside .. I thought I would beat this thing 1-2-3 blah blah blah and be so strong blah blah blah until I heard the word Cancer and just that word in my med history was enough to change me forever.

BTW, I am fully healed by all the thyroid cancer issues ..... it just happened one day and came all together and then in June I had a mole removed that is melanoma but totally gone and only Stage I ... bcz I didn't go thru all the stages I kept asking myself HOW IS A PERSON WHO GETS TWO CANCER DIAGNOSES WTHIN 6 MOS SUPPOSED to REACT ??????  I think the inital thyroid cancer did enough damage control in acceptance that I did A-OK with the Melanoma but the Melanmoa fear is greater for the future.

For me .. the WHAT IFs are the hardest part .. I still have a 3mm nodule on the other side ... since I've decided to keep the gland in on that side I have also decided not plague myself with the WHAT IF as I DO HAVE A CHOICE to have it removed ....

You will come to a point of acceptance .. at least enough to get the RAI done but my Cancer Counselor warned me that when the patient does not seek proper medical care then it is a different issue and denial can prevent the person from seeking the care .. she said that is something you don't want to happen to you.
