Definitely. I have a congenital heart defect (WPW syndrome) that has made me prone to SVT all my life. Until I had thyroid problems and started on levothyroxine, I had 3-4 episodes a year, easily controlled without heart meds. After starting levo, those episodes increased to 20-30 per DAY.
Both thyroid hormone imbalance and thyroid meds can cause/exacerbate SVT.
Do you have recent thyroid labs to post? If so, please do with reference ranges which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report.
Too much medication can make SVT worse and so can starting at too high a dose. Please also post your meds history. Many of us have to start out low and increase slowly...very slowly.
Synthroid may cause a number of heart related side effects include abnormal heart rhythms. Also, nutrient demands increase when metabolic rate speeds due to thyroid medication. SVT may be due to a nutrient deficiency state. Electrolytes in particular need to be checked for an imbalance. Electrolytes include sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, phosphates, bicarbonate.
