TSH Levels

I am new to this forum and have been trying to find out all i can on the TSH levels. (What is good and what is bad) I recently had bloodwork done and got my results back yesterday when the nurse called me. My TSH level was 115.0  How high can it go on the scale and how bad is that number? I feel awful all the time. The headaches and other symptoms are driving me nuts.  Also I have gone from October 2007 from being extremely Hyper. to now the nurse says extreme Hypo. Any advice?

Certainly you feel bad with A TSH 115. TSH can go dangerously higher but you and doc don't want that.  I hope you are being treated by now.

Being hyper last year you might have been in the early stages of autoimmune Hashi. Which Hashi has a hyper phase first before going full blown Hypo/Hashi.  Do you have last years levels of TSH, FT-4 and
FT-3  and this years levels. FTs on how they relate to each other tells the thyroid status like autoimmune thyroid (and more). In conjunction with thhroid levels, you can have specific antibodies done to confirm what levels already relate, however levels are the prevailing diagnose.  And it seems doctors don't do the specific antibodies anyway. Although, it really doesn't make a difference as far as treatment, for Hashi is treated the same way as hypothyroidism, with thyroid hormone medication. However, having the specific antibodies done for both Hashi and Graves, might relate a possibiliy of a few other future and/or present issues.

Once you are treated, and find the correct levels or set point for you, it will take time to heal, for some a couple of years, after that, symptoms are probably not thyroid related.

Anyway, good luck and stay positive.
