tsh

I have hashimotos disease. My tsh 3.77. t4 & t3 is normal. I have symptoms of hypo other than anxiety. I have the brain fog, head aches, weight gain, sore musles. Doc gave me synthriod,25 mcg.
I had my first dose yesterday and did i ever get a panic attack. This am I took half of the 25 and still have the anxiety thing going on. I am wondering if I could still be in the hyper stage of hashi. I am so sick of feeling sick.

From what I have read, I doubt that a TSH level in that range would  cause thyroid symptoms.  Unless you are now med. induced hyperthyroid, which I would tend to believe with a beginning TSH of 3.77.

It is not recommended to treat with a TSH under 10 and trials have shown that early treatment does not benefited symptoms or the patient.

Once the thyroid burns out it will not go back to normal levels on it own, and you would be considered hypothyroid in needs of meds. A totally burnt out i.e. non-functioning thyroid, would require a med. dose of between 250 and 300 or thereabouts, depending on circumstance.

Got to run - good luck!

Is it normal to have anxiety this bad when hypo ?
3.77 tsh is in the normal range. My doc didnt want to give me the meds but I told her I needed to try something. I have had these symptoms since last January.
Is it possible to go back to normal when the thyroditis burns its self out ?

I did ask my Doc about this but she really didn`t know.

Thanks for your help

Your levels would have reflected hyper, if you were in the hyper phase.

It takes 6 to 12 weeks for full med. dose affect.  It would be unusal to feel the affects so soon.

Hypo and hyper share some of the same symptoms.

It takes time to heal once levels are right for you and stable.  Then meds./levels are not 100%
cure-all for symptoms and may be caused by other health conditions that share many of the thyroid symptoms.

Give it more time.
