Iodine overdose can cause goiter too

So it has nothing to do with my Thyroid? (it does work perfectly as mentioned)

Could it be a throat infection / virus?

Thanks

Am I missing something on this psot? Did you post a thyroid history on another question that 898 would come up with an iodine overdose?

I goiter situation and normal TSH is not uncommon. T4 is useless testing and is not ideally the right panel to be looking at.

Where did the iodine overdose theory come in?

Where does iodine overdose come in?

It is not uncommon for a person to have the beginning of a goiter and be in normal levels of TSH.

As I said T4 is not a good test to find out what is wrong

You would need FREE T testing and a TPO

Thanks Stella, no one said anything about Iodine.

I have a small goiter for the past 2 months, perfect blood tests/ healthy guy - i do suffer from Reflux/Stress symptoms for a while.

It seems like something is making my bottom neck muscles stretch and i do notice a tiny bump (Cricoid)

I found the iodine overdose comment on 898 's reply to you. I thought maybe this post was an extension of another post you may have had and I wasn't understanding.

OK let's forget the iodine thing :)

Let's concentrate on the goiter situation.  If you are in the beginning stages of an enlarged thyroid or goiter forming - this typically may be thyroidtitis or possibly Hashimoto auto immune disease. Again the TPO antibody testing would help rule this out along with a thyroid ultra sound. Now with normal TSH levels I would also suggest getting a TSI. It's a long shot but TSI blood work would also rule out auto immune Grave's disease also.

What kind of throat illnesses/infections are you getting?

When autoimmune diseases are Dx - many common illnesses can occur. The body is being attacked by bad antibodies and can have an effect on your health too until things settle back down.

I see your refer to a "bump" on the side of your neck. Is it palpable? does it move like it is soft tissue in there - or could it be a nodule of some kind.

Did your doctor examine it? and what did he/she say?

You can do a thyroid neck check and since you have noticed some abnormality I would suggest this and write down your findings to share with your doctor.

Go to the about.com website and search thyroid neck check. It gives you specific ways to to the neck check the correct way.

Either way these are only guesses until the appropriate scan and blood work is done.

I would make an appointment and get these done as soon as possible.

Thanks Stella!

Well i went to a doctor and he said that everything seem to be fine, but my Thyroid area is a 'little' swollen, i have a tiny node just below the adams apple (we all have - but the Thyroid gland pushs it outwards), it seem to get a bit worse as the day progresses and depending on what i eat. (no pain or discomfort, sometimes i feel like i have something stuck in my throat)

I have reflux symptoms for 3 years now after a bad throat infection, and the infections i currently have are mainly because of my baby daughter, i'm usually very healthy.

I made TSH/T4 tests and my Thyroid works better than good i'm waiting on Ultrasound results.

It could be bad eating/living habits combination with stress.. what do you think?
