High Tsh levels and mosquito bites

Does anyone with high TSH levels notice alot of mosquito bites?  Just wondering if the hormone attracts mosquites. I has always been the one in a crowd that gets biten. Just a thought?

At the time the doc found my nodules on my thyroid he also found one on my lung but it was gone after 2 months recheck--- Thank God!!!

My lymph nodes in my neck, arm pits and groin were enlarged, so he did more blood work.  I also had EBV.  So no wonder I had no energy and hurt all the time.

My finace had a major stroke two years ago and I am the only caregiver so I thought that was why I was feeling so bad.  Little did I know I was falling apart.

I am not 100 percent. More like 60-70, but way better than last spring. I have heard that Hashi weakens immunities. I get very sick in the fall and spring. This fall, I got the usual cold, but it lasted 10 days, rather than the usual month. Maybe the meds are helping.

I get the muscle pain. Low D doesn't help. I really need to stay on top of my D vitamin. I've found that sunshine is the best for me.

I always get eaten alive too. I have seen plenty of research on mozzie bites and it seems women more so than men will be bitten. Those with a lovely pheromone scent will attract more, and usually your ankles will be bitten more often than elsewhere! If you drink alcohol you will be bitten more often too, the body releases odours through the skin which attracts the female mosquito.
It may well be linked but I am yet to see any research that having high TSH will attract a blasted long proboscis pest! Who knows maybe we need to take a poll on it!

I don't know why he didn't check TGab but I will ask when I go back. I hope I get to feeling better soon. When I was outside yesturday in the daytime was when I was eaten alive. I was pulling weeds from my flower beds and this morning I think ever joint and ever muscle in my body is hurting. So bad I could cry. I use to be able to lift anything I wanted, cut trees, dig in the garden anything I wanted to but not now. This is really depressing.

With the Hashi to you have trouble with infections?  It also seems like every cut or nic gets infected.  Is my body attacking everything?

I am glad you are feeling better. How long did it take?

Why didn't the doc test your TGab? That is the other Hashimoto's antibody test. You only need either elevated TGAb or TPO to have Hashi.

Now that you mention it, mosquitos do like me. I come in the house before dusk.

I stay outside during the day mostly when there are no mosquitos, manly because I like the natural vitamin D. I too, have a vitamin deficiency that seems to be associated with Hashimoto's. Also, those thyroid masses are associated with Hashi.

Good thing your doc put you on 50 mcg Synthroid. You will, hopefully, feel better soon. You may need a bump to 75 or higher in a few months. I felt great on the 50 at first, then I was tired again. Now I'm on 75 and doing better.

Mozzies ate me alive  2 summers ago here in Oz!
Although I do seem to think it was because I was Hyper.
Seriously though...I have suffered for years with great big welts from the mozzie bites Although I havent had any since RAI (June 2008) so who knows whats going on.
I had to get an anti-histimine cream in the end as they would swell very bad.

I'm like goolarra -- mosquitoes actually shun me most of the time.  I'll be the standing around perfectly happy in a crowd, while others are getting eaten alive.  I'm on levothyroxin + cytomel.

My daughter is on dessicated hormone with low TSH and mesquitos enjoyed feasting upon her legs and arms last weekend, during the day, at a backyard birthday. Of course she scratched until there were sores and they still haven't healed even with antibiotic lotion. No one else seemed to get bit? Strange???

I went to an Endo two weeks ago and was told that I had a complex thyroid mass in the right lobe about 2 cm and met the criteria for FNA which was done today. Will get results Monday.  Resuts stated benign.  Also he order bloodwork 2 wks ago which were ----
Free T4 -- 1.2 ng/dL (0.9-1.8)
TSH- 3.286 (0.35-5.5) Doctor told me he likes range od 2.5 to 3 - so slightly over.
TPO- <30  (ref: <60)
Calcium - 9.4
25(OH) Vitamin D level -28.1 (ref: 30-100)
Diagnosis stated ---multinodular goiter.
Doc stated I was slightly hypo and he has started me on low dose of levothyroxine(50 MCG) also 50,000 units of Vitamin D.
I was just eaten alive outside by mosquitos. That was the reason I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Thanks for responding!!!

I get those 'mosquito bites'. Actually, it is a rash that feels like mosquito bites that usually accompanies Hashimoto's disease. Hashimoto's people usually have high TSH.

Have you been tested for Hashimoto's? TGab and Anti-TPO bloodwork.

Have you had your FT4/FT3 thyroid levels tested?

Here's an article about the Hashimoto's rash:

I have a pituitary issue, and my TSH is permanently around 20.  Mosquitos actively shun me and always have!  My husband, whose thyroid is perfect, is the magnet for the little buggers.
