Take my First Cytomel WITH my Levoxyl?

Should my Doc be telling me to take the first dose of the day, of my Cytomel WITH my Levoxyl? Isn't that a contradiction to having to take the T4 med on an empty tummy with only water and then keep it empty for least an hour? (2-3 hrs for me since I have SUCH a slow metabolism)..

T4 should not be taken with food, certain beverages (caffeine, milk, OJ), and some vitamins (calcium, iron, etc), as they can all affect the absorption of thyroid meds.  However, T3 is also a thyroid med and should not affect T4 meds.  They're fine to take together.

That's probably the way most people take their Cytomel...the first half dose in the morning with their levo and the second half later in the day (whenever works out best for keeping levels as even as possible for you).
