Thyroglobulin Test

What does it mean when my thyroglobulin level is 6 times higher than normal back in Feburary

Thyroidglobulin now is 283

My blood results are
FT4 13.7pmol.l (9-19)
TSh 1.1mU/l (0.4-4.0)

My doctor couldn't tell me.

I have a large solid nodule arising from the mid to lower portion of the right lobe of the thyroid. This is quite well circumscribed with a halo appearance about its margin. It has dimensions of 4.2 x 2.5 x 2.8cm. It has a slightly heterogeneous echotexture and is entirely solid. Some blood flow was identified within it, although blood flow was more marked around the periphery of the nodule.

No abnormalities were detected elsewhere in the thyroid. The left lobe is not enlarged and the thyroid isthmus is of normal thickness.

Yeah... it is frustrating.  It's the main reason I just had a TT b/c 3 dr.s said they have never seen a TG that high not be cancer.  One doctor said to me, "You're either an anomoly or you have widespread cancer."  Apparently I'm an anomoly.

Thanks for the info. So you can't draw any inconclusions about Tg, confusing isn't it.

Lots of things can cause high Tg.  Inflammation, cancer, benign nodules, FNAs, even exams.  Tg is used as a marker for confirmed differentiated thryoid cancers.  After a TT, they use Tg to confirm all thryoid tissue is gone, and to monitor for recurrence.

My Tg level was 3,803 (normal is <56), then 5,700 (did a recheck to make sure it wasn't lab error) and then 2,800.  Despite negative biopsies, dr. feared that I had follicular cancer that was missed in biopsy.  Had a TT 10 days ago and my entire gland was benign.
