What are your latest thyroid levels?  FT3, FT4, TSH - along with the lab's reference ranges.  Without those, we really can't comment fully.

Except I can tell you that I sympathize with you regarding your doctor -- sounds like doctors the world over..........

What are you doing to try to lose weight?

I totally get it - Been there and done that sweetie. :)

It is so hard to stay positive when you feel like cr@p about yourself and especially gaining weight - that's the tip of the iceberg.... was for me.

I know I had some REAL dark days when I was ill and I totally get what you say about your babies keeping you focused. truly - I know what you are saying and my boys were my focus.

I also found one thing in my house that keep me drudging along in hopes to find my way out and back to health

It was the ""Foot Print" poem or verse so many people know.. If you want it word for word I can post it - but you can goggle it too and I am sure you will find that!

I was 4 WHOLE YEARS with that darkness and giving up situation. It's hard for me to look back and try to explain it to you. I can say this

"The harder YOU believe YOU will find YOUR answers and the sooner YOU will get back straight."

Stay.....  strong - search - seek and surprise yourself - your answers ARE right around the corner!

Let me know if you need more information. I will give you what I can.

WHAT are THOSE tests?

4000- T3?? ( This is a "total" T3 and not the Free T3 that is needed)

600 T4 -

Something is wrong. Those numbers are wrong

Very strange #'s indeed. other than the TSH , which is way too high...have to wonder if you're on THR why you're still very hypo? what was the first blood test result? you're not alone with how you feel, i was also offered antidepressants AND diet pills...didn't take either of them.i was stunned because i was only months into being dx'd hypo and still upping the meds..seems to be the standard answer for just about anything these days...get out the pill pad! I know it's hard, but don't give up yet :)...feels like we need our own medical degree to go to the Dr.!!!!

I agree that there's something wrong with those numbers.

The tests you need are: Free T3, Free T4, TSH for sure; I don't see whether or not you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, so if they haven't been done, you should also have thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin antibodies (TGab).  While you're asking, you might as well try to get an ultra sound as well to check for nodules.

I don't know how long you've been at it, but this ordeal can seem like you are on a roller coaster and all you can think of is getting off...........I did the same thing -- worked out like crazy for months and gained rather than lost weight (that was before I was dx'd).  I've just recently gotten my thyroid levels to a point where I *can* lose weight but I have to really work at it...........

My family doesn't understand either, so I've pretty much had to go it alone, except for the help of everyone here on Med Help.

Don't give up there IS light at the end of the tunnel.

You need to put the reference ranges next to your results. In USA their reference ranges are different to ours in Australia, and I am sure different again in South Africa.

I have run the gamut of fighting doctors for now over 17 years. I was so bad at one point I had to hand over my 3 young children to my abusive ex-husband. I was put on anti-depressants for 8 years only to get worse.

My advice to to you is keep pushing your woes. Do try hard not to get onto anti-depressants, it makes any thyroid disease much worse, and in fact it masks the symptom of the disease in the first place!

Keep up the excersise even if you don't think it is working, it is. It is important for bone health and heart health. There are many people over their normal weight who are actually fitter than those who are skinny! It is vital you keep that regime up. It will also help with depression.

So get your reference ranges and work out if it is Free T3 and Free T4 you had done. These are a very vital piece of information to sorting out your problem.
Cheers!

Hey - those are not very appealling levels. I would think looking at those labs you are certainly not doing well right now.

Insist on those labs and keep strong. There will be an answer for you
