Thyroid Nodule

I had a Thyroid nodule found via US. The nodule is 1.2x1x1cm, complex, not palpable and in the inferior right lobe. I recently had a Thyroid scan in which the nodule does not show up. Nor distinct abnormalities are seen and the thyroid appears normal in the scan. Uptake was slightly elevated at 6 hours (17.4 percent) and normal at 25 hours (32 percent). Does this mean it is a "warm" nodule and thus an FNA is in order?

What is your TSH level at time of the test?

The biopsy is usually ordered if nodule is larger then 1cm for the nodules that are either cold  warm[ not hot].
Comples nodule means it is cyst with solid components sus pended in the fluid (possibly colloid) die to the nodule location and composition it must be done under ultrasound guiding by experienced technician to obtain sample from solid component.

Thanks for the replies. I do not know what my TSH level was. No blood work was done. I suppose that because it's bigger than 1cm and not hot that I should expect to be getting an FNA. I feel fine, hopefully this thing is benign.

I am a 35 yr old female who is 9 wks postpartum with my 2nd child ( My 1st child is 2. )  Found a right thyroid nodule at 3 wks postpartum and saw ENT.  

US results are as follows: dominant, heterogeneous and partially cystic nodule within the right thyroid lobe.  This nodule measures 2.7 x 2.2 x 1.6 cm.  There is moderate internal vascularity."  The ENT doc seemed to talk like this is thyroid cancer.  I am having an US guided biopsy in 2 days.  What is anyone else's experience with these results?

Your  nodule can be formed as the result of cystic degeneration; at the given point the nodule has 15% chance of beign cancerous.
For best results the biopsy should be performed at two steps:
first time the fluid contentis aspirated and collected
then the sample of the solid tissue is taken.
