Uncontolable mood swings could this be the effects of Hyperthyroid

Hello Everybody, there have been times when my husband comes home completely irritalbe and can't be talked to untill he has eaten.  He goes from being irritated, angry and basicaly very upset to a calm melow guy after he has finished his meal.  Now I have looked at Hypoglicimia but Hyperthyroid fits closely to syptoms he has. I wanted to get feed back from all of you, that led you guys to the diagnosis of Hyperthyroid.
Following Symptoms that I have come accross:
Mood swings
Sleeplessness (waking up and not being able to go back to sleep)
very ichy and dry skin on the calfs, shinny almost patchy skin
no matter how much he eats to try to gain weight it does not stick. if he does not eat much he looses weight.
has woken up in the middle of the night with rappid heart beat almost like he had ran a mile in a minute but was not out of breath. Sudden fatigue (after mowing the lawn for about an hour he was tremendously tired and could not move.
he has had joint pain. Sudden dryness of the throught without reason and has to run to get water.  Some swelling around the eyes, sometimes his eyes seem to pop out not literaly but enough you can notice a difference.  It is hard for me to tell my husband that perhaps he may have a thyroid problem, and i made the appointment tomorrow morning w/a doc just to make him get checked out cause like many people outthere they don't go to doctors unless its an emergency well that is my husband.  I hope with some feedback from you guys he will go.

Yes he is definitley hyperthyroid.  I am the same exact way.  I am to the extreme as to where my hormones are nto even dectectable.  I also have hypoglycemias.  Which hyperthroid will also cause.  My eyes tend to bulge, my heart can race up to about 200 beate per minute for no reason at all, extreme tiredness, wekness in the muscles, irritable and more.  It is very frustrating at times.  Sometimes I do nto even know what I am doing cuz my mind trips out.  It is not his fault and needs to have trwatment.  Please tell him to.  The heart racing is not good and can lead to an enlarged heart.  If his heart beat is over 100 beats per minute it is not good.  I had chest x-rays to make sure mine was nto enlarged.  Please tell him to get checked.  It causes so many health problems.  Best of luck.

Let us know what the Dr. says .. of course, he will check out his heart and BP too and then go from there ... you are a great wife and I'm glad your hubby isn't resisting going since it was "your idea" "" wink wink """"

You're such a good wife:) I have all those symptoms except the eye stuff. And all my tests show I am slightly hyperthyroid. I get extremely irritable when hungry. My mind gets focused on food and if my husband tries to divert me with conversation, I snap. I can also get very argumentative and unable to stop. When I'm sane, I tell my husband he needs to just walk away when arguments start because I hyperfocus on proving him wrong.

Sounds like it could be graves disease, but would also have him checked for blood sugar problems. .Best of luck to you.
