Thyroid and Sleep Apnea

by iknowhim2, Mar 05, 2008 09:42AM
Several Questions: Does Thyroid disease affect sleep habits? Could Thyroid disease have anything to do with sleep apnea? If so, if Thyroid is removed would it improve sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea?

I developed sleep apnes just before I was diagnosed as hypo. It continued until by TSH came down. It's definitely a hypo symptom!!!!  I don't know if removing your thyroid would help sleep apnea, and I doubt any MD would remove your thyroid to cure sleep apnea because there are OTHER conditions that can cause it. Getting my TSH in the normal range definitely helped my case. Do you have thyroid condition?

According to my husband, thyroidectomy has not improved my snoring!
