Thyroid causing allergic anaphylactic shock 4 times a day. Where can this be treated, safely?

My mother had Graves disease.  She did the radio active iodine treatment to try and normalize her hyper thyroid condition  Since then she has not been outside in over a year because her allegeries started to overeact.  About 24 weeks ago the allegeric reactions began to get more serious, she began to start choking on a daily basis.  Currently she has choking episodes about 4 times a day on average.  She always has to have some supervision, to adminster liquid benadrhyl, because she cannot do it herself.  Lately it has gotten worse, she no longer makes coughing noises before starting to choke, she just becomes unresponsive.    We have a doctor who is making home visits, and I am very thankful for that, but I want to make sure we are treating her right.  She has been on Armour thyroid for about 24 weeks, and we have been slowly increasing her dosage. Choking 4 times a day while waiting for her thyroid to stabilize, so her allergies will diminish, seems like too much of a risk.  I have been looking around, and I have not seen any other cases similar to this, and I would be encouraged if someone else had dealt with this before.  I have read the the thyroid can cause allergy problems, but I have not read about anything this severe.  Right now the doctor thinks that the biggest allergy offender is dust mites.
Recently, my mother has developed soars on her mouth, which makes it hard for her to eat right. The doctor has given her vitamins to treat this. The doctor has said that her vital signs are getting  stronger, but I am concerned that her allergic responses are getting harder to monitor.  Also she has become somewhat bed ridden, and I am concerned about her muscles atrophying, or clots forming.  Is there a medical centers that would be able to treat this better? I know thyroid treatment can take a long time. Could this be caused by anything else?  What equipment could I get to monitor her oxygen levels and sound an alarm for when she has her silent choking episodes?  Any helpful  information I can get, especially from medical professionals, would be greatly apprecia

Forgot to mention...canker sores (mouth ulcers) are usually from a deficiency ....usually Vit. B12.

Has anyone taken her labs by any chance?
Your Mother may be hypo or hyper.
Just because she had RAI, it doesnt mean the thyroid is totally dead.
Sometime RAI only 'stuns' the thyroid to slow down the release of hormones.
It doesnt 'always' kill it off.

As for the choking sensations, I had that prior to RAI whilst Hyper.
You dont mention labs and your Mother should be having these at least 4-6 weekly until her levels are stable.
It is also unusual for a Doctor to prescribe Armour when someone has Graves Disease as the antibodies can flare up hormone levels....making her drug induced hyper.

If your Mother is bedridden BECAUSE of her thyroid then she needs to go into hospital and be assessed correctly.
As for the allergies...it is common with those who have Graves Disease.
There is only one antibiotic left now that I can take due to allergies from the others and also penicillin.
Your Mother shouldnt be taking Benedryl either...thats a no-no for Graves Disease.

Read the instructions below:

Before taking Benadryl, tell your doctor if you have:

      glaucoma or increased pressure in the eye;
    *
      a stomach ulcer;
    *
      an enlarged prostate, bladder problems or difficulty urinating;
    *
      an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism);
    *
      hypertension or any type of heart problems; or
    *
      asthma.
You may not be able to take Benadryl, or you may require a lower dose or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above.

It wouldnt surprise me in the least if your Mother is HYPERthyoid.
Get her assessed properly by a Hospital, get her on a regular treatment from a Doctor who knows what he is doing.
This Doctor would know NOT to give her Benydryl.

Also while she is there, get them to give her a FULL CBC.(complete blood count)

Good Luck

This does *not* sound thyroid related.  She needs to get to a gastroenterologist and have an endoscope run.
