Thyroid change

Hi everyone.  This is my first time using a website and posting a question.  Hoping someone has some good info.  I have had hypothyroidism since my 20's.  Two months ago I got really sick, hot flashes, vomiting, can't concentrate, very aggressive attitude, etc.  I had my thyroid tested and my dosage jumped from 1.23mcg to 2.0mcg.  I now have a consistent rash that looks like what I would think hives or poison ivy looks like.  Very bumpy, uncontrollable itching, looks like a burn as if it is in my scar tissue.  It appeared on my leg and lower back.  For a few days it was all over my body and looked like small pox.  Now it is staying primarily on my leg and lower back.  Unfortunately I do not have insurance at this time.  I have been to four doctors, two of whom are dermatologists and they have thrown the book at me as far as medicine and treatments.  I have had a culture done, bloodwork, used fungal creams, done 3 rounds of different antibiotics, tried dapsome, Claritin, etc.  All of the things I am reading here.  Has anyone gotten rid of the rash with any of these treatments thus far?  Thanks

I'm sorry, I'm still confused about your Synthroid dosage.  Synthroid is dosed in 25 mcg, 50 mcg, 75 mcg, 88 mcg, 100 mcg, 112 mcg, 125 mcg and on up the scale.  I've never seen it dosed at 1.23 mcg or 2.0 mcg. Do you mean mg, rather than mcg? 1.23 mg would equal 123 mcg and 2.0 mg would equal 200 mcg.

Have you tried a different thyroid medication, such as levoxyl or a generic levo, to see if that changes anything.  Manufacturers put various fillers/binders in the pills, so changing your med would tell you if that's your problem.

I am also a veterinary technician so my doctors were concerned with zoonotic diseases that can be passed from animals to humans which is rare but not unheard of.  I had a culture done and no bacteria grew so they dismissed that as a cause.  This rash seems to be staying on those few areas of my body ever since the flare up that spread everywhere about a month ago but in the last couple of days it has worsened again.  I am also taking a daily Claritin to see if it's an allergic reaction but that is giving me a horrible headache.  I discontinued the dapsome medication because that was making me sick at my stomach.  It's like my body is attacking itself.

My synthroid medication jumped from 1.23 to 2.0.  My labwork came from Quest Diagnostics.  I do not have copies of previous bloodwork but this bloodwork was done on 3/29/13 and my TSH was 11.84.  I also tested anemic in this bloodwork.  I take a daily dose of Metoprolol and Prozac but those medications have not changed dosage in years.  The only thing that has progressively increased has been my thyroid meds.  My doctor called in a new thyroid medication but walmart had to order it so it won't be in until today.  I am also following a strict gluten free diet at my doctor's recommendation but that doesn't seem to be helping either.  I am just concerned that this rash isn't going to go away as I have not seen any posts with results to this happening.  The rash on my legs and back got better for a few weeks but then came back with a vengeance a couple of days ago.

Sorry, but I have a lot of questions to ask, before we can give very many ideas.......

What dosage jumped from 1.23 to 2.0 mcg?

What are your actual thyroid hormone blood test results?  Please post them, if you have a copy of the report and be sure to include reference ranges, as those vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.

If you had a dosage change in your med, you could be reacting to fillers/binders in the pills.

What med are you on, what dosage and for how long have you been on it?  Are you on other medications that could cause this type of reaction?

Any other symptoms of hypo?
