Thyroid questions????

Can you have palpitations with hypo and hyper thyroid?  How long do you have to be on synthroid to start noticing a difference?

I got all my labs back from last Monday my TSH was high I told my primar that per my Endo.s orders I just started back on my .1MG of synthroid that initialy I was cutting in half for 10 days prior since I was having chills and feeling cold in our triple digit heat here.  So, with the labs drawn 3 separate times since all this stuff started, the conclusion is my TSH was supressed as a side effect from the steroid injection I had, which was causing shortness of breath, because that itself has gone away slowly everyday, but the symptoms of HYPO was coming back bad over the last week was confirmed now by TSH being high.  Now, if time will hurry up and pass until the synthroid is in my system I will be good.  I still cry everyday, and it doesn't help that my primary's doctors are not the doctors I thought they were, and since found a new primary for our famil.  I'm glad I had a Endo in all this, she's the only one along with the heart doctor that didn't see me as crazy.

I am having labs drawn Monday morning.  I think it will take a few days for them to come back.  I saw a heart doctor today for the shortness of breath which came back and he's ordering a CT.  If that comes back fine he wants me to have my doctor do a Pulmanary workup.

Sounds like HYPO to me...but get yr levels done to be sure.
Palps are with BOTH hyper and hypo I have found.
Chills....Ive had 'crossover' symtptoms where levels are normal but TSH is up.
Maybe new labs will fix the problem and really let you know where you are at, in regards to dosing.

Yes, I have a thyroid problem.  I was hyper a year ago, at the time was diagnosed with hashimotos, then October, I went to hypthyroid was on .1mg of synthroid since.  Started having shortness of breath, my Endo had me stop my synthroid, then did labs which were normal, and then had my resume my synthroid after being off a week at my regualar dose.  I have been having chills without fever 12 days and thought I could be hyperthyroid, so when I started my synthroid back I cut in half, taking half the dose, because I thought I was hyper due to the chills.  I was going to start my full dose back but nurse told me to wait to see what my Endo wants me to, waiting on a call.  How are you building on the dose?

I have Hashimoto's and yes I get palpitations or as I call them flutters.  Mine actuually improved when I was on a higher dose of Synthroid but then I had a probelm with the medication and had to be changed to Levoxyl.  Also I had to start over on my building doses so I am back down to 25mcg and the palpitations are back!  Do you have a thyroid problem?
