Thyroid ultrasound results

I just recently had a thyroid ultrasound. My finding were as follows:

Right Lobe of the thyroid measures 4.4 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm and is homogeneous except for two hypoechoic areas, one in the upper pole that measures 3 mm x 2 mm x 2 mm; the other one slighty more inferior and medial that measures 2 mm x 2 mm x 1 mm.

Left Lobe of the thyroid measures 4.2 cm x 1.4 cm x 1.3 cm and is mostly homogeneous except for large hetergeneous mass in the lower pole that measures 2.1 cm x 1.7 cm x 1.1 cm. This mass is hypervascular by color spectral doppler.

Impression:
1. Hypervascular solid mass in the lower pole of the left lobe of the thyroid.
2. Two tiny nodules in the right lobe.

Rommendation: Recommend correlation with nuclear medicine thyroid scan and or tissue diagnosis.

I'm a little nervous. What does this exactly mean? I am trying to make an appt. with the specialist asap. HELP!

The largest concern will be related to the hypervascular mass.
Due to its size [more then 1cm] and hypervascularity it may have to be biopsed unless it shows as a "Hot" nodule on the CT scan.
