Thyroid

I am hypothyroid and have been for 10 years. I currently take 175mg of synthroid.  Two weeks ago  I increased my exercise program from 1-2 days a week to 5 days a week. I have put on about 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I have been very strict with my diet so I don't believe it is food. Is it possible I need to increase my meds due to increased exercise?

No offense at all; I appreciate the compliment; just can't take more credit than I deserve.... I'm a thyroid patient who got lucky because of this forum, got necessary testing/treatment and stuck around to pay it forward....

Thyroid issues are not always "cut and dried" so sometimes it can be a bit tricky.  I really appreciate knowing that I've helped you, and/or others.

No, I'm not a medical professional; just do a lot of research, like some others on the forum.

I do the best I can, but I don't always get it right either. ...... lol

When I retired, I went from almost no formal exercise to walking up to 6 miles daily, plus doing yoga.  It did not affect my thyroid levels, nor did I have to increase my medication.  AND I actually gained weight, because I began retaining fluid.

Labs - TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, should always be done prior to a change in med to verify that it's justified.

Stress is any physical or emotional strain on the body.  Stress often causes increased demand of thyroid hormones T4 and T3. It sounds like you need to increase your medication to keep up with demand. :)
