Hello friend, if your TSH levels are elevated, discuss treatment plan with your physician. Hormone medications are used to balance thyroid hormonal imbalance. Wishing you well :)
Tsh is just a feedback loop. It is a measurement of your brain's signal to the thyroid to produce more thyroid. Its like measuring the RPM in your car.
The important thing to find out is what is causing the tsh to be this bad. Therefore you should ask your doctor to have the following tests done. If you have already done this, please post the results:
ft3 (free t3)
ft4 (free t4)
tgab and tpo antibodies (this will test you for hashimotos to see if your thyroid is under attack by the most common form of hypothyroidism)
With a TSH of 11.78 chances are you are "hyperthyroid" and may require thyroid hormone replacement. Left untreated you could cause further damage to your thyroid, and start having all sorts of bad symptoms. Some people have a tsh of 11 or so and do not notice anything really, but most common at this stage would be tiredness or fatigue. Then the list gets longer depending on how bad you really are.
sorry my computer "autocorrected" please let me rephrase-
With a TSH of 11.78 chances are you are "HYPOthyroid" and may require thyroid hormone replacement. Left untreated you could cause further damage to your thyroid, and start having all sorts of bad symptoms. Some people have a tsh of 11 or so and do not notice anything really, but most common at this stage would be tiredness or fatigue. Then the list gets longer depending on how bad you really are.
