What just happened to me???

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and am getting better with it and am almost euthyroid. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. My doctor suggested me to go for walks to counteract anxiety. I did so regularly for last 1 month.

I contracted common cold in the start of this week. But I did not ceased to walk. I walk 3 kms. (approx 1.5 miles) daily on a track which has flat surface, staircases and slopes. Today I was feeling a bit low due to the cold, but still went for a walk. As I climbed the staircases, I felt fainted and got a bitter taste in my mouth. I was nauseated and sat down for a while. Heart rate was accelerated and that is ok. But I did not understand that after being able to walk the same track everyday without any problem, what went wrong today?

Was it angina? But there was no pain. A heart attack? Or the old panic attack? Or was it low BP/sugar? I came home, took a glass of water with a pinch of salt & sugar and felt better.

I am 30 years old. Do not smoke or drink. No cholesterol problem, but I am overweight now. Please help me to gauge what went wrong with me?

Ok lol. Let me place the blame on common cold and get some rest before I continue with my walks. Thanks for your help.

I checked my thyroid levels a week back and things were ok. The levels were in range and T4 was just a point high. I am on 20 mg Carbimazole. I never faced such a situation on my walks. I was actually building endurance. I guess, the common cold did not let me exert the same way I used too. My BP is never normal, but my resting pulse has gone down to 68-70.

Your pulse and bp probably elevated just from the physical activity such as climbing. With us hyper folks, if we aren't in remission we have to be careful how much we push ourselves.  I would suggest getting a blood pressure monitor. This is gold in my house b/c it lets me know if I'm getting close to becoming ''hyper'' again. Our bodies are mysteries, it could have just been an eloctrolyte or two that was off, mineral deficiency etc. The thing to look for is a ''pattern''. If it happens again, I suggest getting your levels checked again.
