ENT questionable nontreatment

I have nodule growth on the left and right of my thyroid. 11 months ago I had a sonogram with biopsy. Sonogram report says to followup with second sonogram for growth and possibly a biopsy again. Showed oncocytic feartures with mild atypia. I just had the second sonogram and it showed increase growth along with new nodules. I have on had one doctor test my throid levels 1 year ago and it was not my ENT doctor who ordered it. No blood work has been done and the ENT doctor says come back in 3 months and recheck for physical growth. I have a history of polyps in colon, skin cancer squamous and basacell, abnormal pap smear cone biopsy, and mother died from ovarian cancer.
Am I the only one who thinks the doctor should be a little more proactive? What should be my next step?

i know what u are going through! i have had a dominant nodule for a couple years now, and my endocronoglist did a scan, some ultrasounds, and a biopsy.  the biopsy was inconclusive, and it has gotten bigger over the past year despite being on synthroid to shrink it.  everytime i would see him he was like, "well, it has gotten a little larger, so we'll up your synthroid" and that would be it! even after i told him that i can feel it when swallowing, and have a lot of choking problems when eating, he didn't really seem to concerned. i recently moved, so i went to a new endo.  he saw my biopsy and ultrasounds results and recommended having it removed because there were some things in there that concerned him that it was malignant (i refuse to do another biopsy).  so you really need to do what you think is right for you.  i think about this stupid thing everyday, so i am listening to the 2nd doctor and having a thyroidectomy in May so i don't have to worry anymore.  i would find a new doctor and at least get a second opinion.  hang in there :)

You have to be proactive when it comes to your health.  If you feel as if more should be done, they demand it!

Demand another biopsy (you have only had one, right) and then go from there.  If it has grown (mine seemed to grow overnight!) and biopsy is inconclusive or malignant, then you know you need it out.  If biopsy is benign, and the growth is not bothering you, then you should have regular checkups.

Checkups are: bloodwork for thyroid hormones, ultrasounds, biopsies, and some people have a iodine uptake thing (I dont know what it is really).

Go with your gut and remember that if you are worried, then you are not enjoying life.  So do what you need to do in order to take care of you!
