Wife's Symptoms??

Hi Doc...my wife had seperate surgery a year apart for both nodes(left was cancer and right clear)..takes 112 Synthroid (down from 125) but feels very tired, anxious and has sleep problems. Blood tests show Throglobulin AB 38 & TSH 3rd Generation of 0.03..Thyroid Peroxidase AB 10.   T3 & 4 within range & A1C of 6 ....she continues to feel terrible. Do you think dose suppression for cancer recurrance is worth the sacrifice in quality of life rather than more frequent testing?? She also takes prescription Strovite w/D multivitamins and Resveratrol trying feel better.  Thanks so much!

Hi .. here is the link to Dr. Lupo's forum:  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Thyroid/show/120 but there's a limit to the daily questions and we'd be glad to give some thoughts from patients if you'd like.

I am in the same boat as your wife.  The quality of life thing is a fine line one walks.  In my case the tumors were tiny and fully encapsulated with no blood supply, etc. so they feel supression isn't as important as if there were lymph node involfement, etc.  This is strictly my case and where we're coming from.  I cannot take Synthroid > 100mcgs due to the same symptoms you describe.  I have Vit D deficiency and take 50,000 iu's / week and it's up to 33 from a scary 9 with 32-100 being normal.

Get a few opinions as some docs are more lenient than others but make sure you know the real risk/benefit factor for your wife's exact case as you ask your ? to a Dr. in person.
