Will skipping Synthroid affect blood test?

Hello, all! I took my mother to her new endo today. She didn't get to see my endo because her HMO doesn't cover mine for some reason.

Her endo and I argued over the importance (or in his words, 'the unimportance') of T3, and he seems to think the TSH is the 'tell all' for adjusting thyroid meds. But enough of him.

She's been having hyper symptoms (fast heart-rate, sleep apnea, diarrhea), so the reason for the visit was to adjust her 125 Synthroid. However, after she did bloodwork she told me that she forgot to take her Synthroid this morning and a few days ago as well.

Do you think this will have an impact on her blood results?

Thanks,
Tamra

There will be a slight drop in her T3/T4 but not much.
Your mother would be better decreasing her T4 med to 112mcg if the labs show hyper.

I have had to stop my T4 med for 4 days as I too have gone hyper (possibly stress related) and due to palpitations.
And I am only on 62.5mcg daily.

By the 5th day, I started to feel a little 'cold' but other than that ...fine.
No more palps.
Get the labs done and take it from there.

Since it is a T4 med, by my calculations, the effect will be minimal on any T4 test results, and negligible on any T3 tests.
