Yes, hypothyrroidism is treatable by medication. It's not curable, but it is treated with replacement thyroid hormones.
Technically, this medication is not a "drug", it's an exact replica of the hormones your body should be making but can't. Think of it more like a vitamin deficiency. If you are low on vitamin D, for example, it wouldn't hurt your baby to take vitamin D, it would help him. It's the same with thyroid meds.
It's impossible to say what the correct dose of meds would be. We're all different and react differently to meds. Your doctor will put you on a starting dose, based mostly on weight. After 4-6 weeks, you will have to be retested to see if the dose needs adjustment. Finding the correct dose is a process, and there's no way to accomplish it, except to keep adjusting until it's right.
Your T4 is on the low side, but your T3 doesn't look too bad. Of course, these are total T3 and total T4. When you get your frees, we'll know a lot more. I'll look forward to seeing them when you get them.
yes dr. asked me go for FT3 , FT4 and anti TPO antibody test also and based on my report then only he will treatment and that report has to come it 'll take 3-4 days .
and my T3 and T4 lab reports am sending you with that lab range:
T3= 1.40 ng/dl (0.8-2.0)
T4=6.86ug/dl(5.1-14.1)
TSH=18.93ulU/ml (adult=0.27-4.2, upto 3days=0.6-13.5, up to 15 years=0.6-6.3)
please tell me wether it can be corrected by medication? 'll this medication during pregnancy harm my baby? what shoud be the correct dose of my medicine if i am a hypothyroid patient..
Does your lab report say those are FREE T3 (FT3) and FREE T4 (FT4). If "free" isn't specified, they are total T3 and total T4. Please post the reference ranges from your own lab report as ranges vary lab to lab.
Your TSH is quite high, which indicates that you could be hypo. No, it's not normal in pregnancy, and your doctor should correct it with meds as soon as possible.
Low thyroid hormone levels have been associated with miscarriage and developmental problems.
Sometimes, TSH is high when T3 and T4 are still at a reasonable level. Please post those ranges, and I can give you an idea where you stand there.
