If he has surgery, he will then be hypo and will have to take a different pill, for the rest of his life, to replace the hormones his thyroid would normally make, because one can not live without thyroid hormones.
That's why I said "either way, he will have to take a medication for life".
Yeah....always...but to put yourself on med for life...it's tough to maintain ....am trying to find other way if there is.....

Either way you will have to take a medication for life. Once you have no thyroid, you will have to take replacement medications.
What is your particular problem? Hyper, hypo?
