Hello,
I just had a nuclear scan where I was given two pills of I-123 Iodine.
The test results were zero uptake of iodine.
What does that mean? I know it means my thyroid isn't acting normally and is not intaking any iodine but what does this mean?
If it's neither hot or cold, the only thing left is warm. which i stated before means that the nodule is absorbing the same amount as the gland. When your doc calls ask if the nodule is warm. I know that medhelp and the communities are here for us so we can offer support and advice. We are not doctors or nurses. But I find it strange that we can't straight understandable answers from our doctors. ????? I feel personally, that I have had to do alot of research on my own to understand what the thyroid does, and what's a nodule, and the tests, and so on. Is that what I am paying the doctors for?
On the sonogram it only said 1 nodule on the right lobe. I'm still waiting for the doc to call me back, but nothing yet. Is in it weird that it wasn't either hot or cold. could that happen?
how many nodules do you have? because they way I read what it says is almost like you have both hot and cold, but it's balanced out. ? Like if you had 10 and 5 were hot and 5 were cold. Know what I mean?
I find it strange that your doctor did not explain the results to you. Like what are you supposed to do now? Did you doc tell you if you were to have biopsy?
no the doctor has said nothing to me at all. I asked for a copy of the results and that was what I read. what doe sit mean neither hot or cold?
I had a cold nodule, which meant the nodule did not absorb iodine. A hot nodule will absorb too much (more than the gland). A warm nodule will absorb the same amount as the gland.
Maybe you have to have the test done again.?
Didn't your doctor explain this to you?
