I consulted with him but did not go. I do not have parathyroid disease. My PTH was slightly elevated (67 and 71) and then went back down. My calcium had reached 10.0 and 10.4. This was due to my low vitamin D, and I am proof that low D does cause PTH and calcium to rise slightly. My low D was caused by something much worse than parathyriod disease - Hashimoto's Disease.

Hi Tamra,

Did you go to Florida to have Dr. Norman do your surgery yet? I'm just curious how your experience was. I'm flying out to see Dr. Norman shortly. Please let me know. Thanks :)

I am going to go to Dr. Norman in Florida. He is considered the best among parathyroid surgeons. If you can, get to Florida. It is worth it to me to have a small scar and a highly experienced surgeon. His surgery is minimally invasive, the incision being an inch long, and lasts 20 minutes. You can go home about two hours later. Many of his patients go to work the next day.

Here's his website: www.parathyroid.com .

Best of luck to you!
