hugely swollen thyroid

I have a hugely swollen thyroid big enough i feel it when i swallow. Its inflamed other glands making me miserable with intolerable headaches and non stop racing mind or mania.  I had gone 8 days without sleep until last night. As bad as everything else is its seems to be eating up my muscles and joints and even back. My back in particular is getting more sore or eaton up daily or atleast feels this way. I am already manic bipolar and this seemed to triple it. Some things have been done to help me like i got depakote which stopped the headache and mania and atleast last night let me sleep. I also got tramadol which is helping alot with pain. I am losing about 3 pounds a day which is good being im heavy anyway but my biggest concern is the damage being done. Im not even getting the ultrasound on it or whatever its called until sometime next week. Then i beleive they decide how to treat it. My biggest concern is that its seemingly eating things up like my back and muscles. Im afraid it could do permanent irreversable damage by the time its fixed or removed possibly even disabling me to a point. Is this possible or am i being paranoid? Is it doing the damage i think or is it just pain that will go away quickly? Whats the likely result of another two or more weeks of this? Is it as bad as i fear? Im just wondering. Im glad they gave me the dpakote because i was about ready to start cutting and thereby force them to remove it. Thank god i did not being there is so much vital stuff there. What can i do to slow down the damage being done by this thing. It is in hyper mode. Not sure if the nodules are cancer or not. Another problem its causing, the biggest is extreme weakness and fatigue. I have no tolerance for exercise. How quickly will this subside after its fixed?

Hi, sorry your experiencing negative health energy.  I have a massive thyroid, all lab results, including biopsy returned normal for 2 cold nodules, the past few yrs.  But my thyroid continues go grow.  I've been having daily symptoms of hyper during that time too.  My surgeon/I decided it was best option to remove, so I have a TT on Wendsday.  I have lot's of trouble swallowing, and thyroid is putting pressure on my trachea, causing deviation.

Do your best to be patient for test results, which I know can be difficult at times, and know what course of action to take from there.  Depakote can cause weakness/fatigue or worsen existing.  Good luck !

There should not be such a big up and down swing if you are being properly tested and treated,  Please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report and let members comment.  Also please tell us your thyroid medication and daily dosage.  Are you having hypo symptoms now?

I had the same symptoms 5 years ago and it was cancer. Had my thyroid removed and have been dealing with up and down fluctuactions with medicine. I hate it. I'm almost ready to Medicate myself. Weight gain whenever they make a higher change in medicine. You will feel better if it is cancer and they remove your thyroid. You will however have to deal with the ups and downs for the rest of your life.
