just curious

I am seeking some answers from someone that may have expierenced the same symptoms i am encountering.I don't know if I have a thyroid issue but I am thinking I do. Is it possible to throw your thyroid out of whack due to extreme stress or worries? I am wondering this because I have been under constant fear for about 7 months now and I think I have messed up my balance. The symptoms I am encountering are only really 2 which are frequent bowel movements containing undigested food that are sometimes loose and sometimes not but they are large in volume. I believe my nutrients are passing through too quick and my body is not absorbing it's food causing me to lose some weight and not gain it back. The big concern for me is my face texture it is very very smooth to the touch that is not normal. When I sahve my face swells very easily and the hair does not grow the same the stubble and my skin is a different texture. My face has become thin and loose along with this strange skin feeling. I think skin on other parts of my is different as well but I can't be too sure. My face feels unbelievably strange(smooth) rough and velvety when my facial hair begins to grow. I can draw creases in my face with finger if I run along my cheek it very odd. Does this sound like a thyroid issue to anyone outthere? please help

someone here must have encountered my symptoms....I have no medical insurance right now, I have to wait a few days before I can see anyone. I have read about the smooth velvety skin and I wish I could just hear from someone who has encountered this?

It could be Celiac disease, it could be parasitic, it could be hyperthyroid, it could be Addison's Disease, it could be stress, it could be alot of things.
Best bet is get to the doctor before it gets any worse. If you are having that many bowel movements and not eating that is going to give you malnutrition real fast and you will find you will get very ill.
When I had severe morning sickness (not that you are pregnant I hope..hee hee!) I had similar features of the bowel movements and very loose skin on my face. Eventually I went to a doctor ( I thought I'd just get better in a week or so) and he went mental at me. My electrolytes were down, my body was starting to breakdown muscle to use as fuel to keep my heart and brain going....so what I am saying is don't delay seeing a doctor..you might feel ok, but the lack of food and it passing through you being unabsorbed is a very bad thing and needs to be checked out as soon as possible, regardless of what is causing it!
Cheers.

would a malabsorption problem be causing my skin symptoms? my girlfriend always feels my face and I know she thinks something is wrong but never says anything. I had numerous test done in June but everything came back normal. My TSH 1.23 with a ref range from 0.6 to 6.0 so it looks at the lower end to me. I feel so light as if beneath my skin is just air. I think anxiety is doing this to me but I have a hard time believing it. I have had 3 bowel movements today already and I haven't eaten a thing. They were not loose but formed and of course food particles were present.I have frequent heartburn now and my stomach rumbles especially at night time in bed. I did the home thyroid check and I do notice a lump when I swallow it looks and feels like a smaller adams apple that is about 2 inches below my apple.I forgot to mention that it also kinda feels like the back of my neck sometimes feels swollen just below my hairline. I want to thank all of you for responding to "worried well" person who is feeling very blue since the start of my problems

I had loose stools for several months, and between my chiropractor and nutritionist it seemed to be a combination of parasites, yeast and fungus.  Had one comprehensive stool culture that the lab screwed up.  When to another intern and had another one done, and went on the proper probiotic and a few other supplements and the problem straightened out.  Stools normalized.  I still have parasites and am taking a supplement for that.  I do have to watch magnesium intake as too much causes mushy stools.  You definiitely have some sort of malabsorption problem.  There are tests and doctors out there who can deal with it without necessarily going to a GI.

Stress is a huge factor on our bodies including thyroid disease. I recently pulled a poll here on that and many feel the same way.

Any shock to the body - something will need to suffer until you bounce back.

You may want to do a thyroid neck check. Go to the about.com website and search - thyroid neck neck.

It gives you step by step details on how to do it.

I agree you must see a doctor - especially on the GI situation you are in. You must be very uncomfortable.

none of this was happening to me until a bout of stress, I just read about the smooth skin and thought it fould be my thyroid, also got alot eye floaters my leg hair is thinning my eyebrows aren't growing as quicly as well as the hair on my head. If I shave my skin will be as smooth as glass and my face will swell along with this. Losing muscle mass in my neck and I think I can feel my thyroid it feels like i have another adams apple below my normal one...is that where it is located or am i just feeling my windpipe?

Wow, that is strange, I would definately make a doctors appointment and get yourself checked out, ask the doctor to look at your symptoms too, and not rely solely on any blood tests alone.

Thank you for sharing.

JMO...

It sounds like you need to see an PCP and have a complete physical done.  At that time I would definitely explain in detail, similar to how you have here, what's go on.  Especially the parts about the bowel movements.

My mother had similar symptoms.  I almost hate to go into it because your situation could be almost anything (or nothing at all) but her's turned out to be an infection stemming from a fissure.  She did, though, also have additional symptoms.   She got treated and it was fine.

Yours could be thyroid related.  I believe one symptom is pasty skin.  But, again, you should have a complete physical.

Good luck.
