Will I ever feel normal again?

Hi,

Thanks for reading my post.  I have just started back on thyroid meds after going through "hypo hell" for R-131 and scan. I am currently cancer free so I am very grateful for that, but now I am back on Synthroid 175 4 x per week and Cytomel, 1/2 of 25 mcg 4 x per week. I take them on the same day, so I am 3 days per week without any, I gues the Dr. is easing me back into this, well anyway, It's been 10 days back on and I am not physically feeling much better, is it too soon to expect much change?  I am having more headaches and I am more tired now than before the R-131. The muscle aches and the mood swings are going away fast, so I don't know if I am just impatient or what?  Anyone out there with any insight into all this craziness?

Thanks,
Linda

No  I only have gone through it twice ,I have decided I will never do RAI again unless my thryoglobin starts to rise.
I am breaking off with my endo. He has tried to tell me I am diabetic with an averblood sugar reading of 105. No I dont trust him anymore and I wonder if he is doing right my my throidlessness.
I am wife of a retired Air Force guyso we have the Tricare prime. My primary care doc is at the BAse here close to me so I made an appointment for next month at the base to make them my fulltime care for my scrips and stuff.
I have found that with the military docs and even the civilian docs <I am still my own best advocate of my health care.
Between my restless search for knowlege and this forum I think I am better informed that some of the docs that have treated me.
Since your family doc has been great , print out this stuff on the forum and take any other info to him then he can be your partner in your healthand not just the doc that has you do something because he said so.

Hi,

Thanks for your words of encouragement. Did you have to go through the RAI more than two times?  I had it after I was first diagnosed with cancer and then again at the one year anniversary.  I don't see an endo for my treatment, I wonder sometimes if I should. I have researched a few where I live and I haven't really heard too much good about the ones here. My husband has been diabetic since he was 12 so he has always seen an endo, but he's not crazy about his either. My family Dr. has been great through the whole thing, the surgeon and the nuclear med dr. both said he saved my life because he never gave up at just the basic test for thyroid and continued until he found the cancer.  Oh well, thanks again.

I too just had my second RAI and scan back in July
First time I went to hypohell, this time I told my endo I am NOT going back to hypohell.
I want thyrogen and he said ok.LOL
It will just take time to get to feeling better. I think I started feeling better about a month after my first RAI It took some time to get the righ levothyroxine dosage. But we kept tweaking it
.its almost the 2nd anniversary of my throid surgery and cancer DX.
I think it is wrong to make us go through hypohell when there is thyrogen. Just my opinon. But as I said before I will NOT go to hypohell ever again.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.. Everyone is different So it may take you a little more or a little less time.If you continue to feel bad after about 6 weeks then see your doc for blood tests and see about tweaking your dosage.
