I would not suggest stopping the levothyroxine.   Adequate thyroid hormone is necessary for your body to function properly.  Rather than the ringing/roaring being caused by the med, I suspect it is due to inadequate medication causing you to still be hypothyroid.  Following is a listing of ear related hypo symptoms that some people have when they are hypo.

Ears:

    Oversensitive hearing
    Noises in ears (hissing, ringing)
    Deafness
    Tinnitus
    Internal itching of ears
Dizziness from fluid on the inner ear
    Excess earwax
    Vertigo

If you will please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be glad to assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.
