can get dosage right? anyone have these problems?

Hi, i am a 46 yr old woman who was diagnosed with hypothyroid in december 2007 with a TSH of 20.....I started on Levoyxl 100 mcg, after 6 weeks I wasn't at a normal TSH so they increased my medicine to 125 mcg.  -- next 6 weeks I tested as hyperthyroid with a TSH of 0.01....now my doctor lowered me to 88 mcg.  I have been having horrible night sweats that I believe are related to too much thryoid meds, I know I am old enough for menopause, but the symptoms increased as the dosage went up.  Now my doctor said to go off the meds for 3-5 days and start the 88 mcg....well when I was off the meds, no sweats or insomnia, so I started the 88 mcg and I have been up for 48 hours.....I am so confused on why as soon as I start the meds I get this reaction.  Do you know how long it really takes for the levoyxl to get out of my system so I can tell if the new dose will work for me.  My endocrinologist told me to take the 88 mcg for 6 weeks and retest, but since I am not functioning, not sure what to do......

thanx for responding......so do you think I still have the 125 mcg floating around in my system still....

i went off all meds for 3 days and started the 88 mcg and sure enough the symptoms came back -- the wierd sweating and dizziness....nervousness....insomnia...

does the dosage go by your height, weight and age, I am 5'4, 125 lbs, 46 yr old.......I will ask if I can get another doctor, but I have an HMO and this doctor was referred to me by my primary.....so you would think that this would be easy to regulate.....

  thats crazy that they started you on a doseage that high!!!  they are supposed to start you on it slowly for that exact reason. i would go to another doctor. i have had it for 10 years + and i am only on 100mcg which i know everyone is diff but still that just doesn't sound right i think they are way way over dosing you. i mean when i was 12 i was on 88mcg and i mean i felt hyper but i was 12  and i didn't have any problems sleeping . you really should get a 2nd oppinion. thats just me. hope i helped you out. contact me if you have anymore questions, thanx
