Hypothyroidism with array of random symptoms

I am a 25 year old female who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism approximately 3 years ago. My thyroid levels are properly maintained according to blood tests, however I have had an array of other symptoms for approximately 7 years that are getting progressively worse. My current doctor has done a vast amount of blood work and the only thing that came back positive was an elevated white cell count once, and something showing my body had inflammation in it. My other symptoms include the following:

* Front and back neck pain, varying degrees
*Joint pain
*Arm numbness
*Fatigue
*Weight loss resistance
*A burning/tingling sensation underneath my shoulder blades
*Swollen neck glands (sometimes more swollen than others, but always slightly swollen)
*Random low grade fevers
*Frequent sore throats, jaw pain, and TMJ

Anyhow I was wondering if anyone knows if these symptoms are tied into my hypothyroidism, or if I should be asking for more tests, and what tests to ask for. I am really at my wits end, at the age of 25 I shouldn't have to fight with my body to accomplish daily functions. Thanks!

Wow.... Lee999 you sound just like me. The only days I can function properly is with a more than what is considered normal amount of sleep with a nap in the afternoon. I work two part time jobs because an 8 hour day at a regular job drains my energy too much and I can't make it through the day. I have had every possible bloodwork for hypothyroidism and many for auto-immune diseases done, but nothing seems to indicate anything serious. 9 times out of 10 I get sent home with some pain meds and anti-inflammatories and advice to rest and exercise. I make myself work out 5 days a week to try and help my metabolism and weight and eat a primarily clean eating diet. My symptoms just don't seem to want help though. I usually end up sleeping too too much if I take the pain meds. I am about to have my blood work redone within the next few weeks so I will post the results as soon as I get them. The doctor never figured out why I was hypothyroid, just said he felt it may have been autoimmune related.

As FTB4 mentioned, we need to have a look at your actual test results and reference ranges.  If you haven't been tested for free T3 and free T4, and the doc is regulating your meds based on TSH, then that might account for some of your many symptoms. Free T3 is the most active thyroid component and it is 4 times as potent as T4.  That is why it is so important to know free T3.  Many hypo patients report the very best result when their free T3 is regulated into the upper third of its range and TSH is in the very low end of its range.

By the way, did your doctor determine any cause for your hypothyroidism?

Is your hypothyroid Hashimoto's? I have most of your symptoms - I am sorry to say - even though my bloods say i am being treated properly. ( neck pain,Joint pain , Arm numbness, Fatigue,  can't lose weight, jaw pain, muscles won't relax, stiffness, tingling in toes, fingers arms, legs etc)
currently looking for new thyroid specialist with different perspective. I had Vit D injections to no avail. try to get 15 mins a day sun but does not seem to help. Besides drugs the best days I have are when i have had a good sleep.

Arm Numbness, burning under shoulder blades and random fevers are three that I have not had yet, I am Hypo with Hashimoto's, Here is a list of Symptoms that I have had, or still have that are caused by Thyroid: High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnia, Insomnia, (Which are caused by an enlarged thyroid) The gland pain in the jaw and neck ares, Muscle aches and spasms, Sensitivity to cold, Shivers, Acid Reflux, Gland pain in the arm pit area, Fatigue, Stiff/sore necks,Trouble swallowing, hoarse voice, What we members call "Brain Fog", Depression and Anxiety. I know that I missed a few but covered the most common. And the ones you have that I have not does not mean they are not symptoms of thyroid, In  many cases when you ask a doctor if these are connected, they will say no, but they are wrong. When you get your test results IE: Free T4 and T3 and TSH post them and members can explain them to you.
If you have the Muscle aches and spasms, take at least 800 units of Vitamin D and 400mg of Magnesium per day, this will greatly improve your muscle problems, for some reason thyroid seems to deplete these vitamins, I was advised of this by members here and it worked within 7 days. Any info you need just post, and we will try to help. Good Luck  FTB4
