man you know you set off some bells when Barb jumps in and starts whoopin a$$ and takin names. I didnt mean "crap" as in "crap" but more like "stuff" LOL. But i still think its weird that no one except the folks on the sttm page take nature throid. I had to tell my primary care dr. how to spell it three times the other day when i went in for my annual physical.
the synthroid was horrible. I couldnt tolerate the tirosint either. the low t4 kinda bothers me but i guess i will roll with it. I still feel like my ears are clogged up and im hooked up to an electric current most of the time.
So moose, at one point you had the bad ear ringing? That is comforting to know.
I dont think you went up to high. Your only too high if you feel hyper and if that happened, most likely your FT3 would read over the range. You are at the area when you increase tiny amounts - probably what your dr told you.
Might take longer for T4 to get up there. Time!!
Like I mentioned, its common to have wide T3 to T4 ratios on natural thyroid. I've been on 5 manufactures of natural thyroid, Yep, 5 you cant get all those anymore in the US.
Erfa had the closest T3 to T4 ratio for me. But I chose that one cause I felt the best on it.
It took one year for me to feel optimal on Erfa. My ears very , very rarely ring anymore.
I don't who might be telling you that it's bad to "be on this crap", but let me assure you "that crap" is going to keep you alive over the long haul..
Why worry about not being able to take Synthroid, when you're doing well on the NT........ ? Many people do better on one med than another (I do great with Tirosint, you couldn't tolerate it); just remember that you don't want to ever go back to Synthroid, because it didn't work for you (didn't work for me either) - these are the lessons we learn through this process.
I really gotta tell you -- I'm jealous as heck of that FT3 level.... my latest one, a couple weeks ago was only 3.1 and for the first time in over 3 yrs, my endo decided to look at my TSH, which resides at < 0.01 - he refused to increase my dose because my TSH was low, even though I had symptoms and my FT3 was lower than usual.........(LM, you might recognize this situation, since you just diffused it for yourself not too long ago). Fortunately, my endo didn't mention decreasing my dose; he just refused to increase.
Studies show that FT4 does not correlate with symptoms; doubt your ear ringing has anything to do with that.
Do you think I went up too high?
Moosey
thanks for the answer. I wonder if the reason why my ears are ringing so bad is because the t3 is high, but the t4 is low. Its almost like there is too much treble, not enough bass.
Is it bad that im on this crap? dont i want the t4 a little higher? I increased per dr. orders (She told me to pick what i was comfortable with) from 1.5 grains NT to 2.25 grains. I dont feel hyper and this is where I am going to stick for the next 30 days.
Im just worried that i was able to get on NTH and couldnt tolerate the synthroid. Ive come this far now. 4 months on meds and i dont want to F it up.
Your T3 to T4 ratio is not totally uncommon with people on natural thyroid.
The T3 will usually be much higher than T4 since the ratio is higher in pigs. The way it is. I have noticed some people on the Nature Throid brand have ended up with a little wider ratio than the few other natural thyroid brands. So with an increase, likely both will go up, your T4 might end up just off the bottom will T3 might be just under the top of the range.
Surprised your TSH is not a little lower though by now. Takes time. Not much more tweeking needed. Takes longer for T4 to go up in labs than T3 after increases.
