Hello,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Be patient and do alot of research on your condition first. I know the weight really stinks - but try to deal with it. If you do not take care of your thyroid situation first (that your doctor is treating you for) you could get caught up in a horrible frenzy!! Concentrate on your thyroid for right now. Learn what blood tests mean and what they are saying to you about your condition.  They are the most important tool you have right now. Eat well and in small portions. Get off soda and snacks and pure junk if you eat that stuff. Walk ... walk ...walk... it will also ease your stress. Most of all be patient.. it could be a while before you balance and the weight should start to come off then. If you have the opportunity rest when you can and definately give yourself the me time you deserve.

Lotion dry skin, Message your neck (That neck cramping is a "pain" hey??) Don't perm or color your hair. Try to use very gentle products. and for the depression, well I am not one that really has an answer for that... but "Take care of you!! :)

It will take several weeks for symptoms to subside.  You might also get your adrenals check.  Adrenal fatigue has the same symptoms as hypothyroid.  Weight gain being one of them.  Get a full  panel blood test done including metabolic panel, DHEA, cortisol, B12 and Vit D. You could be deficient in any of these.
