recurring tissue growth??

I've had both thyroids removed at different times. The last one was 07 because nodule wouldn't shrink with RAI pill. Well my TSH is 0.03 and they decreased the meds many times. Since there was no change he ordered a Ultrasound and there is something for sure on the left side (the one from 07). The tech just said the Dr will call me. So does this happen much after surgery? My first one was done about 26yrs ago and that one never came back. So why would this one? I would appreciate any input ! Thank you very much!

TSH is not a good indicator of thyroid.  You also need to be tested for Free T3 and Free T4 to find out if you need your med(s) adjusted.

My TSH *always* runs < 0.01; however, if my FT levels are good and I feel well, it's no concern. You should ask to have those done. If your levels are high, that could explain your symptoms.

Thank you for your info. So, really no reason to be concern? Is the reason I lost weight, can't sleep and nervous energy the TSH was low?

It doesn't happen often but it can happen. There is no way a total thyroidectomy can remove 100% all microscpic thyroid tissue. Usually the RAI will kill off any remaining tissue, but that doesn't always happen. Thyroid tissue cells can grow at any time.
