How is your mom doing?  Is she home from the hospital yet?  Are you keeping those brothers in line?  And how are YOU doing?  I'm hoping that you're doing okay, remembering to eat and take your meds, etc.  You have to stay strong to swing that big stick around at them!!

Funny you should mention the Mederma and itching.  Mine started itching really bad last night and it washed the stuff off.  Put more on this morning, and tonight it's itching like crazy again!  I didn't read the side effects, but sounds like that would be one of them.  Vitamin E, huh?  I may have to invest in some.

About your last comment....you're very right.  Things could be worse, and it seems everyone has their struggles here and there.  I always thing of it this way, you have to have some bad times to appreciate the good.  I feel bad for Rhonda and Pam too, but am glad that they're out here posting.  What a wonderful group of people I've found!!

Boy do I ever know how it is when we have laughing fits...not that I have had many of them lately.  I am going to ask my mom what she thinks and go from there.  

Dentist said anything you chew in the night and don't brush afterward can damage the enamel on your teeth...funny...it is an antacid but can become an acid if left on your teeth.

I had problems with Mederma and itching but I now use vitamin E oil directly on the incision.  I can't say that the Mederma caused my itching but only once have I had a problem with itching since I started using Vitamin E, and that was when I was sweating really bad one night.

I am determined to get on with my life and deal with things as they come because no matter how bad you think your day or week or life is going there are others out there going through worse...much worse.  I am thinking of Dartfrog and an At the end of my rope...with that comment as well as everyone else on this board going throught there own personal struggle.

So glad to hear that things are going better for your mom.  I read your other post too, and agree with Dac.  Have you talked to your mom about which she prefers?  I would just as soon wear the depends too!  In fact, sometimes when I get together with my girlfriends, it may not be a bad idea!!  Just kidding, of course - but you know how you get to laughing sometimes, and well......things aren't exactly what they used to be!  :-))

That floors me about the Rolaids making your teeth so bad!!  I wonder if it's the same with tums (which I just had)?

I'm going a bit better.  Sleeping is still a chore, but it seems to be getting somewhat better.  No speed bump yet!?!?!  Did you have yours right away or does it take a while?  I did get some Mederma for it on Saturday and have been using it.  For some reason, tonight it itches like crazy - so bad that I ended up washing the Mederma off.  I don't know if it's a reaction to it or what.  I'll have to test it out tomorrow and see if I get the same result.

Keep your chin up ~ it sounds like you're doing so much better, and I'm really happy to see that!!

thank you so much for asking.  She finally got to come home on Friday but we are ALL taking turns sitting with her at night.  The only problem we are having right now is how to deal with the effects of the bladder medication she has been on for two weeks...it makes her unable to control when she urinates.  My older sister and I think we should get her Depends but my other sister refuses to allow it...saying that mom needs to hang onto what dignity she has left...I am not sure she sees it like I do, My mom has to have someone help her clean herself up after her "leaking" so I don't think dignity is left in either method.  

Two of my brothers are not speaking to each other and it is really sad.  We have told them though that this is not to be done in front of our mom...they both live with her...interesting situation.  I am feeling better after getting some sleep but I am starting to regret letting the dentist start the root canal last week.  It seems like for years when I went to the dentist I only ever had 3 cavities in my life but here in the last year I have 3 really bad ones.  He told me that he thinks part of the problem is that I have heartburn and instead of taking Prilosec like the doc recommended I would take Rolaids as needed...well I usually need them sometime in the night and of course I didn't get up and brush my teeth right away and he said this is just as bad a eating candy and not brushing...go figure.   I am staying strong and standing my ground when it comes to my moms care after all she is my momma too.  Thank you so much for asking!
