TSH < 0.01 on my bloodwork...family history...questions??

Hi this is the first time for me on this forum. I finished treating for Hepatitis C six months ago. When I went for my final checkup my blood work showed Third Generation TSH <0.01. I have an appointment with my GP next week and will probably be referred to a endrocrinologist. I have alot of family thyroid history. My father's grandmother died from thyroid disease. My mother had a goiter and had her thyroid removed over 35 years ago. 10 years ago she wa diagnosed with Graves disease which is really strange without a thyroid.

Now for my question. For the past 4 months I've been experiencing unusual leg muscle weakness. Going up stairs is very difficult for me. I can't get up from a squatting position or a one knee kneeling position. I've fallen down two times in the past month, once going up stairs and once going down. Could this be a symptom?

When I was first diagnosed...my legs hurt so bad to move and kept giving way.
It even hurt to stand.
My FT3 and FT4 levels were through the roof!

Thanks for the information! I'm going to my doctor next week. What about the leg weakness, can this be related?

I believe you have Graves.
There is a test called TSI that will determine this.

As for yr grandmother...just because she had the thyroid removed, doesnt mean that she cant have Graves.
Graves disease are antibodies that attack the thyroid , they are there for life even if you have no thyroid.

Get the TSI blood test done and also FREE T3 and FREE T4.

Let us know how you go.

Graves Disease is usually hereditary and they say it usually comes from Irish descent.

I have Graves Disease too with no thyroid now as had RAI (radioactive iodine) and then a Thyroidectomy.
That was back in 2008 and I am going great now and have lost most of the weight without even trying since my levels became stable.

Were any other thyroid tests run? That TSH is rather low, and may point to central hypothyroidism - pituitary source. Treatment is still the same, but other stuff may be going on.
