RAI in Florida - How long of a hospital stay?

I had a TT on 5/18 and am in the process of getting w/my endo to set up RAI.  I live in South Florida and have been told that the stay in the hospital depends on your state.  Anyone know what they requirements are for Florida?  Will I have to stay in the hospital and if so, how many nights?

I'm not looking forward to this at all.  I don't like closed spaces.  Any suggestions on how to make it more bareable?

Thanks bunches!

I had RAI in Pensacola, FL in 2001.  I had to stay in the hospital for two nights, until my radiation levels were below their requirement to leave.  However, I have heard that laws have changed since then.  I would ask your doctor or call the nuclear medicine department at your hospital to find out.

I had mine back on October and made it out in just one night.  I'm in Boca and here your level has to go below 5 in order to go home.  I drank water like crazy and the hospital supplied literally a closet full of water and magazines.  You can't take anything in with you so once you change into the hospital gown make sure everything goes home.  I walked around a lot, albeit in the room and showered, which they say helps get rid of the radiation.  Really wasn't bad at all.  I did get a little queasy.  Oh, and bring sour candies to suck on cause the radiation can dry out your mouth.
