OK to start Synthroid at full strength after 2 mos off?

Took myself off synthroid for 2 months as an experiment.  Ready to go back on at 137mcg -- is it OK to just start, or should I cut pills in half at first?

What a helpful site -- thanks!

Why did you stop taking your med?

Starting back at full dosage is probably not a good idea.  It would be best to start slowly and work back up.

It really depends on your situation. There is a lot to consider when getting off and on your meds. It's not generally a good idea to take yourself off much needed medication without doctors advise, as i'm sure you already know.

jumping back on 137mcg after 2 months off can be rough on your cardiovascular system, it can also cause a lot of "hyper" symptoms for awhile until your body adjusts, we all metabolize meds differently...

Not knowing you, or your medical history and we are not doctors and can't give medical advise but only our opinions, i would suggest you speak with your doctor before stopping or starting your meds....
